At a glance
This program funds development and/or implementation of Great Lakes Tribal Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plans. Only Great Lakes tribes or an entity they designate may apply, and the work must support a tribal plan or include developing one. The agency expects to make 3 awards totaling about $300,000, with awards from $20,000 to $100,000 each. No cost share is required. Projects must be in the Great Lakes Basin or close enough to substantially help prevent or control aquatic invasive species there, and invasive carp work is only eligible if it has gone through the separate regional action plan process.
What it funds
Official description from grants.gov
Using appropriations to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) anticipates providing grants to support development and/or implementation of Great Lakes Tribal Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plans (Tribal AIS Plans). Therefore, a Tribal AIS Plan must be in place that supports the proposed work, or development of such a plan must be a part of the proposed work. All tribal grants will be awarded based on a competitive process for which only Great Lakes tribes or their designee are eligible.
