This program funds pathway programs that train interdisciplinary undergraduate students in maternal and child health, with mentoring, internships, experiential learning, partnerships, and curriculum development. Eligible applicants are domestic public or private nonprofit institutions of higher education, including Native American tribal governments and organizations that are public or private nonprofit institutions of higher learning; individuals are not eligible. HRSA expects up to 5 grants, with up to $155,000 per year for each award, and the project period is five years. There is no cost-sharing requirement. The program is limited to domestic entities in the 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.

The MCH Leadership, Education, and Advancement in Undergraduate Pathways (LEAP) Training Program establishes pathway programs that aim to expand the MCH workforce. These programs increase access to healthcare and public health services for maternal and child health (MCH) populations, including in rural or other underserved communities.
