HRSA’s Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention—Transition to Practice Program funds innovative education and clinical training to increase the nursing workforce in rural and medically vulnerable communities. Eligible applicants are accredited schools of nursing, health care facilities such as federally qualified health centers or nurse-managed health clinics, or partnerships between them; individuals may not apply. The program expects 33 grants, with up to $750,000 per year for each award over four 12-month budget periods. There is no cost-sharing requirement, but at least 45% of annual funding must support experiential learning opportunities, including simulation technology costs. The opportunity is limited to domestic organizations and requires a licensed registered nurse to serve as the principal investigator or project director.
