At a glance
The National Professional Development program funds pre-service and in-service professional development to improve instruction for English learners and help education personnel meet high professional standards, including certification and licensure requirements. Eligible applicants are public and private nonprofit institutions of higher education, and public or private entities with relevant experience and capacity, in consortia with state educational agencies or local educational agencies. The estimated total funding is $49 million, with about 10 to 13 awards of $500,000 to $1 million per year, for projects lasting up to 60 months. No cost sharing or matching is required. Applications are limited to one award per Unique Entity Identifier, and grantees may not make subgrants to carry out project activities directly.
