At a glance
This program funds research on diseases or conditions linked to military-related toxic exposures, from basic lab work through translational and clinical research, but it does not allow clinical trials. It is open to eligible U.S. Department of War organizations, including foreign and domestic, for-profit and nonprofit, and public or private entities; independent investigators at all career levels may be named as principal investigator, but mentees such as postdoctoral or clinical fellows may not. The program expects to fund about three awards with a total cost cap of $800,000 each, over a maximum period of 3 years, and cost sharing is not required. There are no geographic restrictions stated, but applications must fit at least one program goal and one topic area, and studies on classified research, biological select agents or toxins, Havana Syndrome, directed energy weapons, and immediate point-of-injury countermeasures or treatments are not allowed.
