The Federal Formula Grant Program for Urbanized Areas, also called Section 5307, is a federally funded program that assists transit systems in large communities with capital expenditures such as bus replacement and capitalized maintenance. For urban areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, the funds may also be used for capital or operating assistance. WisDOT awards the Section 5307 grant amounts through the annual Public Transit Assistance Program.
