At a glance
This program funds investigator-initiated cooperative agreement clinical trials in communication disorders, including hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language. It is for applications proposing only one clinical trial, and it is aimed at trials with FDA oversight, higher-risk interventions, or large Phase III studies; applications over $700,000 in annual direct costs may also qualify in some cases. Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. organizations such as nonprofits, universities, governments, small businesses, and tribal entities, but foreign organizations and non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations are not eligible. There is no cost-sharing requirement, the project period can be up to 5 years, and the number of awards depends on NIH appropriations and the quality of applications.
