This grant funds secondary analysis of existing human vision-related data to test new scientific ideas, methods, models, or tools; it does not support collecting new data, animal data, or clinical trials. Eligible applicants include many U.S. and non-U.S. organizations, including nonprofits, colleges, governments, small businesses, and foreign organizations, and foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed. The award is for up to two years, with up to $275,000 in direct costs total and no more than $200,000 in direct costs in any single year, plus applicable facilities and administrative costs for consortia. The number of awards depends on NIH appropriations and the quality of applications, and no cost share is required.

The goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to fund meritorious vision-related research projects that involve secondary data analyses using existing database resources. The development of statistical methodology necessary for improving methods to analyze vision health data using existing vision data may also be proposed.
