This program funds research education activities in neuroscience that provide hands-on skills development or research experiences, with a focus on advanced education, rigorous study design, reproducibility, ethics, and national-level faculty and participants. It is open to higher education institutions, nonprofits, for-profits, and small businesses, but foreign organizations and non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. Applications may be new, renewal, or resubmission, and clinical trials are not allowed. Budgets are limited to $250,000 in direct costs per year for up to 5 years, there is no cost sharing requirement, and indirect costs are capped at 8% of modified total direct costs.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NINDS R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs.
