This program funds institutional K12 career development programs that give clinician scientists mentored research and career training in substance use and substance use disorder research. Eligible applicants include U.S. higher education institutions, nonprofits, governments, tribal organizations, faith-based or community-based organizations, and federal agencies; foreign organizations and foreign components are not eligible. Direct costs are limited to $750,000 per year, the project period may be 4 to 5 years, and NIH expects each award to support scholars for 3 to 4 years. No cost sharing is required, and scholars must be U.S. citizens or noncitizen nationals, or lawful permanent residents, at the time of appointment.
