This program funds Tribal-led health-related research, research career development, and research infrastructure projects at eligible federally recognized Tribes and Tribal Entities. Eligible applicants are federally recognized AI/AN Tribes, Tribal colleges or universities, Tribal health programs, Tribal organizations, or consortia of those entities; foreign institutions and non-U.S. components are not eligible to apply, though foreign components are allowed in limited cases. Awards are grants with annual direct costs capped at $1.3 million, a project period of up to 5 years, and no cost sharing required. A NARCH application may include partner organizations, but at least 60% of requested funds must remain with eligible Tribes and Tribal Entities, and subcontracted direct costs to non-eligible partner organizations must be 40% or less of the overall direct cost budget.

The purpose of theNative American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) program is to fund federally-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribes and tribal organizations to support health-related research, research career enhancement, and research infrastructure enhancement activities.
