This program funds the translation and validation of imaging, data science, and spectroscopy technologies for cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment, and related research. Applications must include at least one academic investigator and one industrial investigator as key team members, and the program does not support commercial production or basic research projects. Awards are grants with budgets limited to less than $500,000 in direct costs per year, for up to 5 years, and the number of awards depends on NIH appropriations and meritorious applications. No cost sharing is required. Eligible applicants include a wide range of U.S. and foreign organizations, and foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are allowed.

Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to stimulate translation of scientific discoveries and engineering developments in imaging, data science and/or spectroscopic technologies into methods or tools that address contemporary problems in understanding the fundamental biology, potential risk of development, diagnosis, treatment, and/or disease status for cancer or other disease.
